Learning the Ropes of PPV Marketing

When it comes to Internet marketing, finding inexpensive traffic is the name of the game. When the end goal is always to have your Earnings Per Click (EPC) be greater than your Cost Per Click (CPC), wouldn’t it be helpful to have CPCs of a penny or two a person? Of course. And that’s exactly what you’ll find with Pay Per View (or PPV traffic).

I won’t go into too, too much detail as to what PPV traffic is. But essentially, there are dozens of PPV Networks out there which leverage traffic through Adware — a completely legal, 100% legit, spam-free traffic source, absolutely not to be confused with Spyware or Malware — and provide to the advertiser views. The way it works is, your ad or landing page is shown in a popup over the keyword or URL a user with the network’s Adware installed on their computer searches for or visits. Advertisers within each network bid on their keywords or URLs and the highest bidder at any given time, has their ad displayed. And here’s the best part for those of us on tight budgets, each of those “views” typically costs 1 to 4 cents (a FAR cry from the 40 cents to multiple dollars it can cost to target keywords in Google Adwords). Plus, direct-linking to offers is completely acceptable, and there are no bullshit Google Quality Score hassles to deal with. Just straight advertising. Pretty cool, right?

So no wonder affiliates everywhere are jumping off the Adwords band wagon and heading to the PPV networks in flocks. And you can count Nate and I among that group. Check back here periodically for updates on our progress as we learn the PPV marketing ropes, so to speak. And in the meantime, might I recommend checking out the PPV Playbook by David Ford. David’s book is not only priced right, but it’s definitely one of the best eBooks (on affiliate marketing or anything else) I’ve ever read. It gets right down to the nitty-gritty, isn’t filled with dozens of pages of fluff just to beef up the book, and is written in a way that any marketer, newbie or seasoned, will not only be able to understand and implement what David recommends right away, but anyone, no matter their experience level, will get something from this book. He also includes a number of videos with the book so you can really see each tactic put to practice; a great addition for the visual learners among us. Click here to check out the book for yourself.

David has also launched a coaching forum to piggyback off the book’s success which I am planning to join this week to really make sure I’m doing the damn thing the right way the first time. Again, when budgets are tight, there’s little room for error. And I’m hoping the coaching forum at PPV Playbook will help eliminate that error.

Wish us luck and if you decide to give PPV a shot, please feel free to report your experiences for all to gain from!
